The 2011 recipient for the Harrison Smith Award for its impact on Columbus’s urban environment, the Franklin County Common Pleas Courthouse is a 300,000-sq.ft. courthouse that holds 32 courtrooms and is the first LEED certified courthouse in the state of Ohio. The courthouse contains such energy efficient features as: water management systems that include low and dual flush fixtures and water efficient landscaping that will save over 1 million gallons annually; high-efficient systems, skin optimization and day-lighting that exceeds ASHRAW 90.1 2004 requirements by more than 26%. The Franklin County Common Pleas Courthouse is located on South High Street in downtown Columbus, Ohio, and was built in collaboration with Arquitectonica, DesignGroup and Ricci Green Associates.
