Morgens Hall at the University of Cincinnati by Richard Fleischman + Partners Architects
Morgens Hall • University of Cincinnati • Cincinnati, Ohio • Richard Fleischman + Partners Architects
With its original version sitting beside it, this 138,000 square-foot dorm is located on University of Cincinnati’s Uptown Campus and is newly renovated for the 2013 school year. Taking the bones of its sister building, Scioto Hall, Morgens Hall was renovated to have solid floor-to-ceiling windows and a continuous curtain wall keeping the area that the balconies the original dorm had occupied, but adding more interior space for students. The original pent house apartments also kept key details, brick fireplace and built-in-shelving, along with the ability to have access to a full rooftop balcony. Being able to house a total of 456 students, this dorm offers three different types of rooms: 2-person, 3-person, and 8-person rooms. Other features include this being a co-ed dormitory, full kitchen and ceramic tile bathroom in each apartment; hall laundry, study lounge and two rec rooms.
