UK Patterson Hall
Patterson Hall • University of Kentucky • Lexington, Ohio • Lord Aeck Sargent
Originally opened in 1904, this historic building received a $15 million face-lift when it reopened in 2016. Originally the first women’s dormitory on the University of Kentucky’s (UK) campus, the former dormitory is now home to 18 classrooms and community spaces, an administrative center, private and group study rooms plus informal and formal meeting space. Also, the top floor still features the original use of the building: dormitory rooms for current students. With new, comfortable energy efficient lighting the wood floors and original wood details are vibrant and much easier to see. Various walls have been moved throughout the historic building revitalizing each space for its intended use. Patterson Hall is UK’s tribute to the symbol of women’s progress at the state’s flagship school.
